真的好喜欢The Great Pottery Throwdown，从发现了开始连看四季，其间不忘学英语的老本行，以下就是我的笔记啦，欢迎补充，欢迎指正。

wedge 像揉面一样揉黏土，主要是为了排空土里的空气，防止烧制的时候爆炸

slap 揉完要拍打一番

coil 泥条

throw（在陶钧上）把…拉制成坯 to make a clay pot, dish, etc. on a potter's wheel (throw以前有旋转的意思)

wheel 拉胚机

pull 制作把手的一种技法，难以形容，见图

slip casting 注浆成型 把泥浆注入模具，等待一段时间，变干的泥浆会附着在模具内壁，形成相应形状，然后再把多余的泥浆倒出来。倒出来的时机非常重要。太早可能不够干，太晚可能太厚。

slip 黏土加水变成的液体，可以装饰，也可以用来浇筑

stencil（印文字或图案用的）模板；（用模板印的）文字，图案 a thin piece of metal, plastic or card with a design cut out of it, that you put onto a surface and paint over so that the design is left on the surface; the pattern or design that is produced in this way

sgraffito 用工具把最表面一层土刮掉形成图案的方法 Sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch") is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath. The layer(s) of color can be underglazes or colored slips. Below is an example of one technique and what can be achieved.

raku 乐烧 a pottery technique in which pots are raw-glazed at a low temperature then taken red-hot from the kiln and plunged in water or sawdust for reduction or carbonizing 每一季都有raku week，大概的过程似乎是：初烧之后上釉，然后在高温烧，烧完丢进木屑之类的可燃物中，盖盖子，表面碳化发黑，然后拿出来浸入水中。第四季有raw raku，不上釉，直接烧，然后用动物毛、线等物品制造颜色图样，也非常美！
